Mom's Quilt

This is a crazy quilt I made for my mom. It began as a lap robe and sort of "grew". It's far too heavy for Mom to maneuver but if she were to put it on a bed it would be twin-size. I spent about a year on it, finishing it late the night before the county fair. When it won a blue ribbon I was thrilled. When I found out it was the only one in it's classification, it took me down a peg :) Mom loves it though and she displays that blue ribbon like a real trophy. She says she doesn't mention to anyone that it didn't have any competitors. Moms:)

This is really beautiful hon! No wonder your mom is so proud of it. I have been saving my blocks from all our swaps on CQN and when I have enough, I will make a bed quilt for my guest room from all these blocks from across the US and other parts of the world.

Congrats on your Blue Ribbon darlin... Good for you!!

I think it was well worth a blue ribbon - competitors or not!! it is beautifully done :-)

If your fair is like ours, the ribbons are merit based. That means that if you did blue ribbon work, you get a blue ribbon whether yours is the only entry or one of 500. If all 500 were of blue ribbon quality, all 500 would win a ribbon. So if I were you, I'd assume that's what happened and take all the pride in my blue ribbon that you're due!

Absolutely gorgeous! And the fact that you have this DONE is incredible. I'm with your mom -- nobody needs to know the full story of the blue ribbon.
